Community Post supports driveway safety campaign

A public awareness campaign on driveway safety is one of the community projects that will benefit from this year’s Community Post donations from New Zealand Post.

More than 1.3 million postage-included envelopes will be given to 2,328 not-for-profit organisations across the country. Direct marketing assistance is also provided to some of the groups. A large donation of more than 25,000 envelopes has gone to the national group Safekids Aotearoa for its 2015 driveway safety campaign.

“We’re pleased to be able to support Safekids Aotearoa and all the other organisations receiving Community Post envelopes this year,” says New Zealand Post Group sponsorship spokesperson Malcolm Shaw.

“We assist groups working in the areas of education, health and wellbeing, as well groups wanting to develop business partnerships.
These organisations work tirelessly on important projects in their regions. Community Post will help them achieve their goals and keep in touch with their communities.”

Safekids Aotearoa is thrilled to be receiving postal services through Community Post. “We’re running an awareness campaign in 2015 about keeping kids safe on driveways and the Community Post envelopes will help deliver life-saving safety messages to early childhood centres, families and communities across the country,” says Safekids Aotearoa Director Ann Weaver.

Safekids Aotearoa is a service of Starship Children’s Health and aims to reduce the high rates of preventable injuries to children in New Zealand.

2,328 national and local community organisations successfully applied for Community Post assistance this year. They include:

· 133 Northland based organisations
· 601 Auckland based organisations
· 207 Hauraki/Bay of Plenty based organisations
· 232 Waikato based organisations
· 138 Hawkes Bay based organisations
· 198 Taranaki/Manawatu based organisations
· 151 Wellington based organisations
· 104 Upper South Island based organisations
· 120 Central South Island based organisations
· 142 Christchurch based organisations
· 147 Lower South Island based organisations.
