Mayor issues fundraising challenge

Mayor issues fundraising challenge

Dunedin (Tuesday, 13 January 2015) – Mayor Dave Cull has accepted an invitation to lead an overnight ride of the Central Otago Rail Trail to raise funds for the Otago Community Hospice, and issued a challenge for others to join him.

Mr Cull says it’s time to dust off the bike and don the lycra pants for a good cause.

"The Otago Community Hospice is an invaluable facility for the people of Otago and I am delighted to actively support this fund-raiser. The more people who can join me, the more we can raise.

“So please join me or sponsor me and the other riders on the Midnight Express Cycling Challenge 2015.”

The ride is scheduled for the night of Waitangi Day: February 6th. Riders will leave Middlemarch around 5pm and pedal the 152 kilometres through the night and arrive in Alexandra early the next morning.

The Hospice aims to attract up to 40 charity riders and collectively the goal for the challenge is to raise $40,000+ for the Otago Community Hospice.
