Emergency services are at the scene of a fatal microlight crash near Timaru
Canterbury Police and emergency services are at the scene of a fatal microlight crash that occurred at approximately 7.30pm tonight (23 January 2015).
The two people who were in the microlight have been confirmed as deceased at the scene.
The deaths have been referred to the Coroner who will determine the cause of death. No details of either of the deceased will be released until next of kin are fully informed.
A cordon has been established around the crash site which is in a rural area near Timaru.
Canterbury Police investigations into the crash are underway and the Civil Aviation Authority have been advised.
No further comment will be made by Police tonight.
