Northland homicide

Northland, 26 January 2015 - Northland District Police have commenced a homicide investigation: Operation Tide.

At approximately midnight Police were called to a Balmoral Road, Tikipunga, address after a violent altercation which left a 25 year old male deceased.

One person was detained at the address. Two other people are assisting police with the investigation. Police believe they all reside at the address.

Detective Inspector Kevin BURKE said; "A scene examination with the assistance of specialists from the ESR will be carried out over the next few days. A post mortem is yet to be completed to determine the cause of death, but police believe that they have the weapon used in the assault"

Details in regard to the deceased will be released following postmortem and next of kin obligations.
