Body found at Wainui Beach, Gisborne


At about 4.30pm on Tuesday a local Gisborne Surfer found a body close to shore in the surf off Wainui Beach.

Police believe the body is that of John Wakelin, the 18 year old who went missing at Makarori Beach last Saturday.

Formal identification will be made as soon as possible.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.
