Ministry for Primary Industries to speak

Food related businesses and interested members of the public are invited to attend a meeting to discuss proposed changes to the Food Act 2014.

The meeting will be held from 2 to 4pm on Wednesday 4 February at the Hotel Coachman, 140 Fitzherbert Avenue, Palmerston North. No registration to attend is needed.

The Ministry for Primary Industries has arranged the meeting so it can explain the proposed changes and answer any questions.

“This meeting will be of particular interest to anyone involved in the food industry,” says Ana Da Cunha, Palmerston North City Council environmental health officer. “It’s a really worthwhile chance to explore the thinking behind the new proposals before they come into effect and ask any questions.”

The proposals include requirements for food safety, cost recovery, infringements, exemptions, registering and auditing food businesses, and how existing businesses will make the transition from the current legislation to the new regulations.

More information on the proposed changes can be found at mpi.govt.nz.
