Tararua fatal crash

An investigation is underway after a woman died in a single vehicle crash on Mangamaire Road, yesterday (1 February, 2015) in the Tararua area.

A member of the public alerted emergency services to the crash at about 7:30pm.

The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was Monique Miers, aged 25 of Palmerston North.

It is unclear at this stage what factors led to the crash, however it appears the vehicle had left the road and collided with a power pole.

The Pahiatua Police are investigating the crash supported by the Serious Crash Unit, and are speaking with witnesses.

The death has now been referred to the Coroner.
