Rere wins TripAdvisor excellence award

Rere wins TripAdvisor excellence award

Rere Rockslide has been awarded a certificate of excellence from the world’s largest travel site TripAdvisor.

The award is based on the quality of reviews and opinions Rere has earned on the website over the past year.

Marc Charron, President of TripAdvisor for Business said Rere has consistently earned outstanding feedback from TripAdvisor travellers.

TripAdvisor is a site where travellers go to seek information and report back about destinations, accommodation and attractions all over the world.

Recent reviews have been titled “Worth the trip”, “Must do” and “Free fun.”

One reviewer wrote, “Great adventure into the country. It is basic New Zealand fun with water running through a beautiful native landscape. Had wonderful time with lots of laughter from all the family.”

“Rere used to be Gisborne’s hidden secret, now it’s getting worldwide recognition,” says acting parks and community property manager, Garrett Blair.

The natural rockslide has had attention from a U.S. production company who came all the way to New Zealand to feature Rere on their show; Xtreme Waterparks. The footage will be aired on the Travel Channel sometime in mid-2015.

Since then, video blogger known as ‘FunForLouis’ has also discovered the rockslide and uploaded a video to Youtube titled ‘Best slip ‘n slide ever’ showcasing his day at Rere.

The vlogger has a large following on YouTube and has received over 188, 000 views on the video.

“This is a great accomplishment for Gisborne and will hopefully put us on the map to bring more tourists to visit our region,” says Mr Blair.

Rere rockslide is also listed in AA’s top 100 things to do in NZ.

Council are working closely with WaterSafe NZ to update signage wording in light of recent reports in regards to natural hazards of the site.

It is important that people are aware of the risks involved in using the slide. Council advises swimmers to use care and confident swimming ability is recommended.
