Trams testing track extension


From tomorrow (Friday 6 February), the trams will start appearing on the new track which is an extension of the current route. This extended route is not yet open to the public, but the trams need to test the new tracks and undertake driver training before the official opening of the new route which is planned for Thursday 12 February. The extended route will include Oxford Terrace, Cashel Street, High Street to Cathedral Square. Trams will travel at a maximum speed of 8km/h in Oxford Terrace south of Hereford Street and in City Mall (Cashel Street). Drivers will use the trams' lights and bells to warn of their approach.
