Pedestrian killed in road accident
An 18-year-old man
has died after he was struck by an oncoming vehicle on
Napier Road, Palmerston North this morning.
At approximately 2am the man was seen walking down Napier Road by a passing vehicle.
Shortly after this he was struck by an oncoming north-bound vehicle.
Emergency services attended however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Manawatu CIB, assisted by the Serious Crash Unit are continuing to investigate and officers are speaking to witnesses.
Police will not release the man’s name until formal identification has been completed and his next of kin has been informed.
