Crowds of people set to Bike the Trail on 1 March

More than 400 people have already signed up for this year’s family-friendly Bike the Trail event along the Hutt River Trail.

The event is an easy ride and a great way for families to bike together because the entire course is flat and away from roads.

Although it’s free to attend the event, people must register at www.bikethetrail.co.nz to ensure medical information and contact details for family members are on file. You can also register on the day.

Bike the Trail is not timed and groups of about 50 people set off at a time to make sure everyone has enough room to ride together.

Bike riding options

Bike the Trail has two options:

1. The full ride is 25km from Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt to Hikoikoi Reserve in Petone.

2. A shorter, 15km, ride starts at County Lane (off Fergusson Drive), in Silverstream to Hikoikoi Reserve in Petone.

The Hits will be at the end of the course in Petone playing music. A gold coin donation barbecue will feed hungry riders and support a local community group.

Bike and people transport is provided free back to the start line.

Register now at www.bikethetrail.co.nz

Bike the Trail is an event partnership between Hutt City Council, Upper Hutt City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
