Council to ask residents for feedback in the 2015 Annual Community Survey

Upper Hutt City Council services to the community will be under the spotlight as it seeks feedback from residents.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 18 FEB 2015—This year’s Annual Community Survey will begin onThursday, 19 February. The survey, which is initiated by Upper Hutt City Council, may take up to 3 weeks, concluding on Friday 13 March.

Key Research will undertake the telephone survey on Council’s behalf.

400 people over the age of 18 will be interviewed as part of the survey. People contacted will be randomly selected from the telephone listings for Upper Hutt City. The survey will give respondents the opportunity to share their views on a range of services that Council delivers, and to comment on where improvements can be made.

The survey seeks to achieve a representation of residents across suburbs of the city and across various age groups and gender.

Council has an open-door policy so that feedback can be expressed from the public at any time. But Council also recognises the importance of asking for feedback—particularly from those that otherwise may not make contact—in order to get a good representative sample and holistic opinion of a wide range of services.

“If you receive a call, please take the time to answer the questions,” says Upper Hutt Mayor, Wayne Guppy. “We are proactively seeking feedback from a representative sample of the community in order to identify our successes in the community as well as areas that may need our improved attention, focus, and energy. It’s a good way of gauging our performance and maintaining Council’s accountability to the Upper Hutt community.”

Key Research will be calling people between Thursday, 19 February and Friday, 13 March 2015.

A significant portion of survey results measure Council’s performance against a group of targets outlined in the Long Term Plan 2012 – 2022. These measures will then be made public in Council’s Annual Report for 2014 – 2015.
