Urzila to connect Upper Hutt community groups

Well-known comedian, Urzila Carlson, is coming to Upper Hutt to facilitate an evening for community groups to share, learn, and connect with each other.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 19 FEB 2015—Upper Hutt’s Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre will host Urzila Carlson and an assembly of community groups at a networking event on 4 March. Urzila will facilitate the event, guiding the community groups through an evening of laughter, idea sharing, and networking over drinks and nibbles.

The event, called Community Connect, is specifically for community groups that serve the Upper Hutt community in the health, heritage, culture, and social services areas. Community Connect will be a unique opportunity for groups to tell Upper Hutt City Council’s Community Services team, and other groups, how they can work together more effectively. It will also be a chance to explore how community groups and Council can communicate better, how to share success stories, as well as how to give and receive sup-port to other groups. Groups will also have the chance to network and build relationships.

The event will also feature guest speaker, Mark Potter, who recently spoke at the International Association for Community Development Conference in Glasgow. He will speak on how he helped foster Berhampore School to be a community hub.

Come along for the Upper Hutt community event of the year at Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre by registering by 27 February 2015. For more information and to register your group go towww.upperhuttcity.com/community-connect or contact Amber Moffitt on (04) 527 2793 or emailcommunity@uhcc.govt.nz. Please register only 1-2 participants per community group as spaces are limited.
