Supporters thanked in wake of cancelled Foo Fighters show

The New Zealand Music Foundation thanks supporters in wake of cancelled Foo Fighters benefit show

The New Zealand Music Foundation today expressed its hope for the speedy recovery of a truck driver whose rig rolled near Taihape last night, causing irreparable damage to vital equipment needed for tonight’s Foo Fighters benefit concert at the Auckland Town Hall, resulting in its cancellation.

Thankfully the driver is expected to be ok.

The charity has received messages and support from the band and fans from NZ and around the world online, by email and phone and social media in the wake of news of the cancellation.

Chair of The New Zealand Music Foundation, Campbell Smith says: “There’s no doubt that the proceeds of the concert would have allowed the charity to considerably expand our work supporting music-based projects around the country that make a real difference to the lives of those in need in NZ. But we are grateful for the support of the Foo Fighters and will continue to do our best to realise Dave Grohl’s sincere belief that the world will be a better place if music is more a part of our daily lives.”

The New Zealand Music Foundation receives no government support and relies on donations and memberships to support music-based projects and programmes around the country that change the lives of those in need and provide emergency assistance to people in the music industry experiencing illness, distress and hardship.
