Library gets a nip and tuck

Entry to the Thames District Library is being restricted to the Sealey Street entrance while work is being done on the building.

Removal of the porte cochere or overhanging porch, to the poles is scheduled to begin on Monday and is expected to be finished within ten days.

"The porte cochere has been damaged on multiple occasions when vehicles don't accurately judge the clearance height," says Thames Area Manager, Greg Hampton. "The damage doesn't appear to be much, but it will only take so many hits before it becomes really unsafe."

Library users will still be able to access the car park off Mackay Street, "We do suggest people use caution when entering the car park, mostly for the safety of the contractors working on the building. The disruption should only be temporary and we thank you in advance for your patience," says Mr Hampton.
