$1500 Reward Offered For Stolen Sheep

$1500 Reward Offered For Stolen Sheep

For Immediate Release: 26th

February 2015

During the night of Friday 14th February an animal sanctuary in Matakana was broken into and a previously rescued Arapawa Sheep named George was stolen.

Founder and director of the Animal Sanctuary Shawn Bishop stated, “We know it was humans that deliberately stole him, because they destroyed 2 gates to do it, and left them open. George is a loving pet sheep, more like a dog in his behaviours. He can’t be bred from because he’s been neutered. We’re desperate to get him back. The Animal Sanctuary has always been such a peaceful place. Now that peace has been shattered.”

The Animal Sanctuary is a shelter set up for unwanted or abused animals, offering them a life long home.

It has never before experienced such a violation of peace and it is suspected that this was not a random Shawn explained,

“It’s quite possible that this was not a random poaching, but instead was a vile act of retaliation in which our animal sanctuary was specifically targeted. It’s possible the theft of George was a despicable act intended to terrorise us. If George isn’t returned safely, we need the public’s support to identify the thief and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Someone out there knows something, I’m sure of that. Perhaps the reward will motivate them to come forward and do the right thing. ”

The Animal Sanctuary is offering a monetary reward for any information about the robbery and a $1500 reward for the safe return of George with no questions asked.

Shawn Bishop describes George as “A beautiful, loving, trusting animal. It breaks our hearts that this has been done to him.

We fear for his life, and will pay the reward to anyone who gets him back to us safe and sound.“
