Canterbury: help sought in sexual violation investigation

"Canterbury Police appeal for public’s help with ongoing sexual violation investigation"

Canterbury Police are appealing to the public for help as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged rape and ongoing blackmail of a victim using a video recording.

A 20 year old man from Rangiora was arrested overnight and appeared in Christchurch District Court this morning (26 February 2015) charged with blackmail, two counts of threatening to kill, two counts of unlawful sexual connection with a female aged 12-16 and two counts of rape of a female aged 12-16. He has been remanded in custody to reappear in Christchurch District Court on 4 May 2015.

Canterbury Police are working with and arranging ongoing support for the victim.

Canterbury Police urge anyone who may have any information that will assist with this ongoing investigation, or has found themselves in a similar situation, to contact them by calling 03 363 7400.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
