Wainuiomata 2035: is this our vision?

HUTT CITY COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE

Wainuiomata 2035: is this our vision?

Last year Wainuiomata residents and business owners had their say on what their community should look like in 2035. The project’s steering group have gathered that feedback, collated a collective vision and now want to double check with the community that they’ve got it right.

There are three ways to give feedback:

1. Talk directly to members of the steering group at an expo on Thursday 5 March from 10am-7pm at the Wainuiomata Library,
2. Visit and add to the expo between Friday 6 March and Thursday 12 Marchat either the Wainuiomata Library or the Wainuiomata Mall, or
3. Online at www.huttcity.govt.nz/vibrant-wainuiomata (from Thursday 5 March).

Wainuiomata Development Plan supporter and steering group member Nikki Wynne is thrilled with the feedback received after a large and passionate turnout to the community workshop late last year.

“We’ve had lots of feedback and now we’re keen to agree a vision together.

“Much of the feedback was thematically similar and was around being an eco-friendly, safe, vibrant community that continues to connect and stick together.”

Councillor Campbell Barry says the next step is to use this information to inform projects and ideas over the next 20 years.

“We’ll use this feedback to guide more conversations around how we work together towards 2035 and the Wainuiomata we all want to see.”
