Celebrate Pasifika at Auckland’s libraries

Celebrate Pasifika at Auckland’s libraries

Take the family down to your local library for this year’s Pasifika 2015 celebrations.

Free, family-friendly entertainment with a Pacific flavour from 15 – 29 March will include bilingual Storytime and Wriggle & Rhyme sessions, arts and crafts, quizzes, games, cooking demonstrations and other cultural activities.

Manukau Ward Councillor and councillor liaison for the Pacific Peoples Advisory Panel Cr Anae Arthur Anae says that Pasifika is a time for all Aucklanders to come together and celebrate Auckland's rich diversity.

“Auckland has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world, and Pasifika is an important part of our cultural identity. It will be fantastic to see Auckland Council’s libraries across the region packed with people celebrating our Pacific heritage.”

“There are a wide range of activities available for families at their local library, from making ula lole (lolly leis) and Pasifika Storytime for younger kids to ukulele lessons and craft workshops for older children.”

The Auckland Libraries collection offers Pacific stories and legends, bilingual books, CDs and DVDS in various Pacific languages, plus language learning tools and travel guides.
