Colleague Sadly Passes away

Colleague Sadly Passes away

Statement from Gary Saunders, CEO EnviroWaste

Despite our great hopes for his survival Junior Hunt, our recycling truck driver, critically injured in an accident yesterday, passed away in Wellington Hospital late this afternoon.

We are devastated by this tragedy.

Our hearts, thoughts and condolences are now with Junior’s family and his friends as they come to terms with their loss. Our focus right now is on supporting Junior’s grieving family however we are able.

Family and staff have been offered counselling and other support as they begin to work through their grief.

We will endeavour to understand how and why this accident happened – this is our commitment to Junior’s memory and his family.

We will continue to work with authorities as investigations into the circumstances regarding this tragic accident are carried out over the coming weeks. We are unable to add new details to those already reported yesterday.

EnviroWaste will be making no further comment at this time.

Please note: Junior’s family have asked us to release the following statement on their behalf:

On Monday our much loved son and brother Junior was involved in a tragic accident that today claimed his life.

We are grieving for this fine young man whom we will miss more than words can say.

The family have respectfully requested that they be given privacy at this time. They wish to be given the space they need to grieve.
