District Plan - Natural Character provisions withdrawn

Proposed District Plan - Natural Character provisions withdrawn

At yesterday's meeting of the Thames-Coromandel District Council it was resolved to withdraw the natural character provisions of the Proposed District Plan (i.e. the objectives, policies, rules and overlay maps).

As a result, the hearing of submissions on the natural character provisions of the Proposed Plan will now not take place. The hearing of submissions on the landscape and coastal environment provisions will however proceed as planned (on 14-16 and 21-22 April).

A variation to the Proposed District Plan to introduce provisions that address natural character will be publicly notified later this year, prior to Council decisions on the rest of submissions being released.

All those who made submissions on the natural character provisions will be formally notified by Council (within the next few days) that the hearing will now not take place.
