Improvements to reduce flood risk

Improvements to reduce flood risk

Council is undertaking improvement works to widen 230 metres of the Mangapapa Stream starting on Monday 9 March.

The section of stream that runs behind several private properties in Massey Road, has been identified as an area where capacity is restricted, says stormwater team leader Joss Ruifrok.

“There’s an increased risk of flooding in the area during extreme rain events if we don’t make these improvements.”

The improvement work will involve excavation and some property owners could experience inconvenience with noise and heavy vehicle movements.

“We apologise for any disruption caused to residents while work is carried out,
“We expect work to be completed within three weeks depending on the weather.”
