Successful first meeting of new bus users group

There has been an enthusiastic response to the first meeting of the newly established HB BUG (Hawke’s Bay Bus Users’ Group).

HB Bug has been set up to give people the opportunity to share their ideas and suggestions on public transport in the region.

Twelve people turned up to the first meeting and joined HBRC Transport Coordinator Megan Welsby and Go Bus Operations Manager, Pania Kehely to discuss their ideas and suggestions over a cup of tea and a biscuit, and give feedback on the goBay public transport network.

Megan Welsby says she’s thrilled with the number of people who expressed an interest in HB BUG.

“We want to ensure HB BUG is representative of the community and of people who travel on the goBay network” says Megan.

She says some of the topics discussed included late night services, a faster/express service between Napier and Hastings, improved coverage of Havelock North, more frequent services on Route 17, improved signage at Napier bus stops and an extension of Route 15 to Mitre 10 on Prebensen Drive.

“Many of the topics discussed have already been identified for further investigation and are on our three-year work plan, so the feedback from HB BUG confirms that we’re on the right track” says Megan.

HB BUG will meet three or four times a year to share their ideas and public transport experiences.
