Youth in Parks on again these school holidays

Once again Upper Hutt City Council’s Activation team is running the successful Youth in Parks programme these school holidays which offers free activities to youth.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 31 MAR 2015—The successful Youth in Parks programme is set to run again these April school holidays for 9 to 14 year olds. The initiative started in the January school holidays when over 150 kids took part in fun games and activities across our parks. A big water slide and water fight will again take place but this time at Harcourt Park (pending a lift of water restrictions), as well as football and dodgeball at Maidstone Park Sports Centre and school yard games including capture the flag and bull rush at Trentham Memorial Park.

Activation’s Recreation Advisor, David King has again put together a programme sourced from feedback. “We are really pleased to offer these activities and try to provide what our youth are asking for. It will be a fun time not to be missed.”

Food was another big thing the kids asked for, so again, a sausage sizzle will be provided at each event.

The programme of events includes:

· Wednesday 8 April – Water fight and water slide at the sound stage, Harcourt Park, 12.00 – 2.00 pm (pending a lift of water restrictions)

· Tuesday 14 April – Dodgeball and football at Maidstone Park Sports Centre, 12.00 – 2.00 pm

· Thursday 16 April – School yard games (capture the flag, bullrush) with an Easter Egg Hunt at Trentham Memorial Park, 12.00 – 2.00 pm

All activities (including food) are free.

People can stay up to date with the events on Activation’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/ActivationUH
