Waikato Police and other emergency sevices are at the scene of a fatal crash on State Highway One Ngaruawahia.
The single fatality crash has occurred near the intersections of Havelock Road and State Highway One and involves a car versus tree.
There were no other occupants of the vehicle.
The Police Serious Crash Unit will investigate the crash.
No personal details of the deceased will be released until next of kin and other family members have been informed.
State Highway One is closed to all traffic in the vicinity of the crash.
There are road diversions in place at State Highway One and Havelock Road (Northbound traffic) and Ellery Street and State Highway One (Southbound traffic.
It is anticipated that the diversions will be in place for the next two hours (0600-0800)
