Recreational Services appointed as Council’s new Open Spaces contractor
Horowhenua District Council has awarded its Open Spaces Maintenance contract to a new provider to the District – Recreational Services.
The Open Spaces contact includes both planned and reactive maintenance and minor capital works for Council’s parks, playgrounds, sport grounds, cemeteries and gardens.
The awarding of this Contract comes after a comprehensive two-stage tender and evaluation process, with seven companies initially submitting for this contract. Awarding the contract to Recreational Services was approved by Council at their meeting last night, and will begin from 1 July 2015, for a period of up to eight years.
Council’s Group Manager – Customer and Community Services, Monique Davidson, is very pleased with the result, and is confident that the partnership between Recreational Services and Council will be a productive and beneficial one.
“Recreational Services are a family owned and operated business, with values that will work well with Council’s. I am certain that Recreational Services are going to be able to provide a great service to our community, and assist us in identify opportunities for added value to our residents and ratepayers," Mrs Davidson said.
Recreational Services’ General Manager Cameron Parr is equally excited about being awarded this contract.
“As a family owned company, we place a lot of value on having close working relationships with the clients and communities we work in. With over 22 years experience working with Local Government, we are looking forward to getting stuck into work in the Horowhenua and plan on partnering with local businesses and sub-contractors to ensure we are making the most of the skills and knowledge already on the ground," Mr Parr said.
Recreational Services will spend the next three months working with Council to put in place plans to ensure a smooth start from 1 July 2015. This planning will include contacting local companies to discover how they can be involved in this opportunity.
