Don’t take life for granted this Easter
Police urge everyone on our roads, ‘Don’t take life for granted this Easter’
Last Easter 19 people lost their lives on Australian and New Zealand roads.
This year, police are challenging all pedestrians, drivers and motorcycle and bicycle riders to bear this number in mind before and during every journey this Easter, and bring the road toll down.
ANZPAA CEO Jon White, today announced the launch of the ninth Operation Crossroads and Holiday Road Toll campaigns.
Police across Australia and New Zealand are committed to targeting the ‘Fatal Five’ causes of death or injury on Australian and New Zealand roads this Easter period to help reduce road trauma.
“Police will take an active role this Easter to address unsafe and potentially deadly behaviours on our roads such as speeding, drink/drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, distraction and fatigue. We all need to do more to stop the carnage.
“Everyone knows how to stay safe on our roads. It’s a shared responsibility for all those using them. Make the choices and decisions that you know are the right ones,” says Mr White.
The Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) is the agency that serves Police Commissioners in Australia and New Zealand. Operation Crossroads is a co-ordinated cross-jurisdictional initiative of Australia and New Zealand Police Commissioners that aims to reduce death and injury on our roads.
