8 days left – second ‘virtual’ ward meeting tonight

8 days left – second ‘virtual’ ward meeting tonight

With consultation on Wellington City Council’s draft 10-Year Plan closing on 17 April, Wellingtonians now have just over a week left to have their say on the ambitious programme to grow the Capital's economy over the next decade.

The invest-to-grow proposal maintains all existing services and includes new initiatives. Under the plan, Wellingtonians would be limited to a modest 3.9 percent rates increase per year on average over 10 years.

Councillor Simon Woolf, the City Council’s Community Engagement Portfolio Leader, is delighted with the level of interest Wellingtonians have shown in the 10-Year Plan so far. “We are now four weeks into the five-week consultation period, and have had more than 1500 responses to the plan.”

“Some 65% of the feedback received so far has supported the overall plan, with cycling networks and the proposed airport runway extension the most talked about ideas.”

You can find out more about the plan and our proposals, and give feedback, by going to our10yearplan.co.nz.

“If Wellingtonians have questions they would like answered before making a submission, they can join us online tonight for our second virtual ward meeting, where we will be answering questions via Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #askWCC in real time.”

The virtual ward meeting starts at 7pm and will be open till 9pm.
