Council seeks interest on animal control services
Council seeks interest to provide animal control
services after hours
Horowhenua District Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suppliers to provide animal control services after-hours.
Currently Council delivers these services, primarily relating to dogs and stock, in-house through a team of three full-time staff and one part-time staff-member. The staff also deliver the after-hours emergency response service.
However, Council is now exploring whether to contract out the ‘after-hours’ component and is seeking Expressions of Interest from suppliers who have the capability to supply the services.
The after-hours service needs are:
· Monday to Thursday from 4.00 pm to 7.30 am the next working day
· Fridays / weekends from 4.00 pm Friday until 7.30 am Monday
· Public holidays from 4.00 pm the day prior to 7.30 am the next normal working day.
Services to be provided
include:
· Responding to reports of dog aggression, dog attacks, ‘secured’ found dogs, wandering stock on roads, Police requests for assistance, dead animals.
· Cleaning of Dog Pound and feeding of impounded dogs, weekends and public holidays.
· Documenting, by way of a job sheet, actions taken where a response has been provided (this may include the need to take witness statements.)
Copies of the document
detailing the EOI for providing after-hours animal control
services is available at Council's office at 126 Oxford
Street, Levin. It is also available online at

Expressions of Interest must be received by Council by 5pm Friday 8 May 2015.
