Maces Road, Bromley, weekend work

There will be a westbound lane closure on Maces Road, between Dyers Road and Newtown St from Friday night 10 April to early Monday morning, 13 April.

Please support these businesses, even if the easy route is out of action

Bassett St, Burwood – get to it from the north side off Travis or Parnwell

The retailers and business owners on Bassett and Parnwell Streets want people to know that they are still in business, but for the next four or so weeks, please access them via Parnwell St or Travis Road. SCIRT is building a wastewater lift station and a pump station at the New Brighton Road end so the street will be closed for four weeks at the New Brighton Road end. It will then go one-way for a few weeks and there is quite a lot of work to come. Aranui and Pages Road area: busy for a few more months

With more vacuum wastewater chambers and pipes being installed in Aranui, the effect upon residents and drivers is at its peak.

The latest change will make Breezes Road from Hampshire St to Pages Road one-way from 13 April. This work will take up to four months and the work site will progressively move north to Wainoni Road.

How can I know what is changing?

SCIRT’s City Care and Fletcher teams are sending out a fortnightly map and street list via email. They will leave copies at the Aranui Community Trust on Hampshire St and the local library on Aldershot St. Email CIRinfo@fcc.co.nz orscirt@citycare.co.nz to go on the list.

Main road changes in Aranui

• Pages Road from Anzac Drive to Breezes Road is one-way, city-bound only, for this year.

• Pages Road from Breezes Road to Shuttle Drive/ Cowles Stadium is one-way until mid year.

• Breezes Road will have a new one-way block from Hampshire St to Pages Road from 13 April. This work will take up to four months.

• Breezes Road is also southbound only between Rowses and Carters Roads. This work will take up to two months. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/6685

• Several streets are closed to cars or one-way while the pipes are being laid and chambers installed. See the map for details.

• SCIRT is working hard to ensure the Metro bus routes remain as unchanged as possible. (03 366 88 55, metroinfo.co.nz)

• In Bromley, SCIRT’s Downer team is working in Maces Road area with a road closure at Wickham St. Watch for signs and work notices in your letterbox.

• There is non-SCIRT work on Cuthberts Road south of Breezes Road.

What else is happening on SCIRT sites in Christchurch?

Given it is the second week of the school holidays, traffic volumes are lower than normal at peak hours. Thanks for being vigilant, especially around cyclists and pedestrians.

Centaurus Road, St Martins

Changes coming up - city footbridge reopening soon

Antigua Boatsheds footbridge, near Christchurch Hospital, is reopening early on Thursday, 30 April, once the handrails are all in place.

Southern Relief wastewater work starts end April – Worcester & Woodham

There is major main trunk wastewater work coming up on Worcester St, east of Linwood Ave, and Woodham Road. More information to come.

Hagley Park bridge repairs - changes for park users and carpark users

1. Armagh St bridge repair Hagley Park: work is planned to start 20 April after school holidays on this cracked brick structure. Cars will not be allowed on the bridge for the 24 week repair, fitting in with the trout spawning season in spring. SCIRT is working on temporary access for the carpark. More information soon.

2. Little Hagley Park Carlton Mill footbridge complete rebuild starts early May. Pedestrians and cyclists will need to use the Helmores Lane bridge or the main Carlton Mill road bridge while this footbridge is being built on site with a little more noise in this area than is usual.
