Water restrictions lifted throughout Horowhenua District
Horowhenua District Council advises the Level One Water Restrictions for all Council water supplies, in place during summer, have now been removed as of today.
However, Council encourages people to continue with good water conservation habits.
Supply and demand is no longer an issue; but the less water used, the less is needed to be treated, which lowers the overall operating cost.
Simple water saving tips include:
• Turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving
• Check your cistern, taps, and pipes for leaks or overflow
• Use a bucket of water and a soft sponge or mop for outdoor cleaning jobs
• Sweep up garden waste, rather than hosing it away
• Do only full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher
• Take shorter showers
• Use a bowl or plug in the sink when washing vegetables or hand washing dishes
• Install a dual-flush toilet cistern
Council thanks residents for their cooperation during the water restrictions period.
