Loos on the loop

Loos on the loop

A $140,000 upgrade and refurbishment of the two sets of public toilets at the Town Basin has begun.

Contractors Arco Group have begun work on the public toilets behind Burning Issues and the public toilets near the Town Basin children’s playground (by Stanley Marine). The blocks will be done one at a time to ensure two sets of public toilets remain available in the area throughout the project. Signs will be installed to direct people to the toilets at The Hub as well as whichever of the other two sets is still open. The frequency of cleaning will be increased because of higher numbers of users at the two open toilet blocks.

A new set of toilets is also being built a on Pohe Island on the grass island between the old weigh station and Riverside Drive. It will have the same design as the one at Mander Park (Twin cubicle designed to meet disability requirements) and will feature a mural by local artist Trent Morgan. Work has started on this project and is due to finish on 28 May.

At the Tikipunga Sports Park a new Exeloo with three standard sized cubicles and one larger cubicle to meet disability requirements is being installed. This will replace the old toilet block structure which will be converted to an equipment storage shed for the Tikipunga sport clubs once the internal plumbing and partitions are removed. This work should be completed by 15 May.
