New partner in Waiariki Charity House project

Mitre 10 Mega Rotorua new partner in Waiariki Charity House project to be launched tomorrow

Waiariki Institute of Technology

The Waiariki Institute of Technology is proud to announce that Mitre 10 has joined as the newest partner to the Charity House that is being built by students of Waiariki. On completion the house is sold by auction with proceeds going to charity groups within the Waiariki region.

Andrew Lancaster, General Manager for Mitre 10 Rotorua says they are excited to be a part of the project, “We are really excited to support this project because we can see the benefits to the charity groups in the region as well being able to help the students to achieve their goals.”

The charity house has been a huge success in recent years. Last year saw the following charity organisations receive a share of the profits - Linton Park Community Centre - $1,500 • Rotorua Menz Shed - $1,000 • Big Brother Big Sister Rotorua - $5,000 • Rotorua Youth Centre - $5,000 • Western Heights Primary School - $3,000.

Waiariki Institute of Technology Chief Executive Margaret Noble says that the project is growing form strength to strength, “With Mitre 10 joining as partners in the project it signals the enormity of what the charity house means to our community, students and industry stakeholders. By empowering our students through study, we are able to provide them with practical experience which is also extremely rewarding. Their work directly impacts on those who receive help and assistance from our local charity groups. The implications are great.”
