Upper Hutt’s Long Term Plan garners plenty of positive feedback

Positive feedback through workshops and submissions sees Upper Hutt’s Long Term Plan to look on the right track.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 23 APR 2015—The consultation period for Upper Hutt’s Long Term Plan closed Monday with submissions exceeding 270. Beginning on 18 March, the consultation period ran for just over a month, concluding on 20 April.

Council officers noted the very positive feedback by attendants at the workshops where projects, rate levels and debt were all discussed in relation to each other. Council had proposed a series of projects.

“This year we really tried to make our consultation process a lot more engaging with interactive workshops and other events. Plus we have a greater focus on who we are and what our residents value most about Upper Hutt, so that we can increasingly play to our strengths. This has resulted in some really positive feedback – showing that the ratepayers are embracing our future proposed direction and that they believe we are on the right track,” says Upper Hutt Mayor, Wayne Guppy.

Council officers are now collating the written submissions that will be compiled and submitted to councillors along with analysis on the community feedback. Hearings for oral submissions will occur on 12 and 13 May. Following this, councillors will meet on 19 May to review the submissions and make any changes to the Long Term Plan, which is scheduled to be adopted on 24 June.
