Forum to be held on development of City’s Alcohol Policy

Forum to be held on development of City’s Alcohol Policy

Palmerston North City Council would like to invite residents to an Alcohol Forum so that they can have a say in the development of the City’s draft Local Alcohol Policy. The event will be an opportunity to share ideas and information, and help shape the Policy.

Policy analyst Peter Ridge says the purpose of the forum is to give people an opportunity to help form this draft policy by sharing ideas and information and discussing the issues in Palmerston North.

The policy will influence where alcohol can be sold in Palmerston North, where new liquor licences can be granted, the density of liquor outlets in different parts of the city, and what the maximum trading hours should be.

These requirements are then given effect through the decisions of the District Licensing Committee.

Where: Convention Centre, Main Street, Palmerston North

When: Thursday 14 May 2015

Time: 9.00am – 3.30pm

“The development of the policy is only at an early stage, so it is a great time for people to get involved and help shape the policy,” Peter said.

Attendance is free and open to anyone, but people need to register by going to http://bit.ly/1O1aYxk
