Draft Long Term Plan submissions to be heard
Horowhenua District Council will hear public submissions to the Draft Long Term Plan 2015 - 2025 next week.
266 submissions were received during the five week period open for people to submit. Of these, around 80 people will speak to their submissions at Council meetings scheduled for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3pm each day.
The majority of submissions are on the proposal to change Council's rating system from land value to capital value-based, with 179 submissions received on the issue.
The other most popular topics were the proposals to cancel development contributions, introduce paid-parking in the Levin Mall car park, a District-wide smokefree policy, requiring water tanks for new homes, and increasing planning charges by three percent.
Following next week's hearing of submissions by Council, deliberation will take place on 26, 27 and 28 May 2015.
The final LTP needs to be adopted by Council by 30 June 2015.
The LTP Consultation Document and supporting documents are still available online at www.horowhenua.govt.nz/ltp.
