New age pool entry

New age pool entry

Joining in the fun at Hastings pools has just got easier.

A new-age debit card that can be used to get into all Hastings swimming pools - Clive, Havelock North, Frimley and Flaxmere – has been introduced by Aquatics Hastings (officially from Tuesday, May 12).

The Aqua Card is about making life easier and saving pool users money, says Hastings District Council’s facilities and programmes manager Alice Heather.

“It works like a gift card: load it up with cash (you choose how much) then swipe it at the pool or pools of your choice.”

All card holders are charged the concession rate which means having an Aqua Card also saves money; $5 every 10 swims, Ms Heather said.

“You can use it to buy coffee at the pools, purchase swim gear – say goggles or a swimming cap; pay for an AquaFit class or shout your friends in for a swim.”

It also means the end of soggy cardboard concession cards – more than one for those who like to go to different pools.

Aqua Cards can be bought from and used at any of the four pools Clive Memorial Pool, Swim Heretaunga in Flaxmere, the Village Pool in Havelock North and Frimley Pool in Hastings* – and be topped up at those sites.

“The great thing about it is the new cards don’t turn to mush like the old cardboard ones and you don’t need to hunt around for cash,” Ms Heather said.

“It can be used to pay for more than one person’s swim at a time, so you can shout a friend and pay for the coffee at the pool afterwards. Or you can pay for all of your kids and their friends to play in the pool for a few hours while you keep an eye on them.”

*Frimley Pool and the Village Pool are closed for winter, re-opening in November.

Note: All four pools charges and concession rates are now aligned.
