Serious Motor Cycle Crash - State Highway 2, Waioeka Rd, Opotiki. - Bay of Plenty
Emergency Services are currently at a serious crash on State Highway 2, Waioeka Rd, Opotiki.
At about 2.50 pm a motorcyclist lost control of his motor bike and rode into a culvet.
No other vehicles are involved.
The rider is a 74 year old male.
He has Status 1 life threatening injuries and has been airlifted to hospital.
The Police serious Crash unit is at the crash scene investigating the circumstances.
Inspector Tony Wakelin said it is believed family members were following the motorcycle in a car and witnessed the crash.
The rider was trapped in the drain until freed by Emergency Services.
