"Police search for missing woman"

A 29 year old Johnsonville female has gone missing this afternoon while competing in the XTERRA Wellington Trail Running Series which was being run in Rimutaka Forest Park in Wainuiomata.

The female was running in the 20km race that started at 9.00am and should have taken about 2 ½ hours. Concern was raised when the female failed to return to finish the race so the organisers contacted Police.

Police SAR, Land SAR volunteers, Community Rescue teams and SAR dogs are currently conducting a search of the tracks and area around the Rimutaka Forrest Park and the Orongorongo track.
