Time running out for Riccarton transport comments

Time running out for Riccarton transport comments

Time is running out for people to have their say about major changes planned for Riccarton Road.

They include changes to on-street parking, improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and bus priority measures.

There have been about 80 submissions received so far and consultation closes on the proposed changes at 5pm on Monday 18 May 2015.

Riccarton bus stops are the busiest outside the Central City, so giving buses priority will help them to keep to their timetables.

Councillor Phil Clearwater, Chair of the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee, says finding ways to make bus services more reliable is better for everyone.

"We have identified outlined some options to address issues along Riccarton Road. We want to hear what people think.

"There are the bus priority measures, improvements for pedestrians and cyclists, and improvements for Central Riccarton to make it a more inviting place to shop, work and do business. We urge people to tell us what you think,” Cr Clearwater says.
