ROAD CLOSURE: SH2 Waioeka Gorge between Opotiki and Gisborne

State Highway 2 (SH2) at the Waioeka Gorge will be CLOSED to all traffic from 1.30pm on Thursday May 14 for approximately one hour, as contractors carry out rock fall prevention works.

The work site is about 40mins east of Opotiki.

The NZ Transport Agency says one lane of the road will reopen at approximately 2.30pm and stop/ go traffic management will be in place at the site for the remainder of the week.

Queue lengths will be actively monitored and kept to a minimum during the works.

Motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 minutes for their journey during the stop/ go operation.

The Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience during the works.
