Rivers are running high. We have hit the 5 year flood level for the Waikanae River. The Wharemaukau Stream in Raumati is running very high. Some evacuations are now being considered.

An evacuation centre has been set up at the Community Centre in Paraparaumu where evacuated residents are welcome

Residents concerned about rising flood waters are advised to move valuables to a safe place and, if concerned about their safety should call 111.

Residents are advised to stay away from Rivers and footbridges. We have reports of footbridges over the Waikanae river lifting.

There is some sewage contamination of flood waters. For public health reasons, please stay out of water and guttering’s where sump coves may have floated off.
