Library to host funding expo for community groups

Upper Hutt City Library to host funding expo for community groups

Presentations from the Department of Internal Affairs, Upper Hutt Cossie Club, Pelorus Trust, and Upper Hutt City Council will feature at this year’s Upper Hutt funding expo.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 14 MAY 2015—An increase in awareness of funding opportunities is the driving force behind Upper Hutt’s funding expo to be hosted by Upper Hutt City Library on 27 May. It is a chance for community groups and individuals to get more information about various funding streams as well as specifics around applying for funding.

Pelorus Trust, Upper Hutt Cossie Club, Department of Internal Affairs, and Upper Hutt City Council will be the funders presenting on the evening. They will talk about what they fund and how to apply, along with a general overview of their particular funding grants.

To allow participants to ask questions directly to the funder, there will be breakout sessions where more in-depth information can be sought. Community groups are encouraged to bring more than one group member along to have a chance to attend the various breakout sessions as these funders cover a range of funding needs and categories.

Upper Hutt City Council’s Director of Community Services, Mike Ryan says, “We know that accessing funding is an issue for many community groups and organisations. Council wants to support these groups in finding out more about relevant funding streams.”

The funding expo will be held at Upper Hutt Central Library on Wednesday 27 May, from 6.00 – 8.00 pm. The expo is free to attend and open to all organisations and individuals.

Attendees are encouraged to pre-register with the Library for catering purposes. Registration can be done in person at the Upper Hutt Central Library, or via email or telephone.
