Plunket Rooms Get Upgrade

Plunket Rooms Get Upgrade Thanks to Infinity Foundation And Pelorus Trust

Thanks to some generous grants two Plunket rooms in Lower Hutt have just received well-earned makeovers. Plunket has been fundraising to renovate the Stokes Valley clinic and Hutt Valley family centre and has been granted $10,000 from Infinity Foundation and $7,000 from Pelorus Trust towards the projects.

“We are very thankful to both Infinity Foundation and Pelorus Trust for their financial support in upgrading both Plunket rooms,” says Shikha Goyal, grants and fundraising coordinator for Plunket in the Wellington-Wairarapa region. “Major renovations were needed at both these sites in order for us to provide the best service possible for families. We are very thankful to both Infinity Foundation and Pelorus Trust for their financial support in upgrading both Plunket rooms.”

The grants have been put to good use at both sites. The Stokes Valley clinic received $5,000 from the Infinity Foundation and $2,000 from Pelorus Trust, which was used to install a new hot water cylinder and fence, as well as a new back door with double-glazing. Pelorus Trust and Infinity Foundation granted $5,000 each to The Hutt Valley family centre to help complete the painting of the interior walls.

Shikha said: “Stokes Valley families will now receive our full range of Plunket services in a warm, comfortable and inviting environment. These services include access to a Kaiawhina and parenting education and support,” she said.

The Hutt Valley Centre is a central location for many different Plunket services. The clinic offers rooms used by local families for Plunket Well Child visits. Breastfeeding clinics are also held and a lactation consultant is available for mums who have been referred by their Plunket nurse. “This is the only Plunket breastfeeding support provided in the entire Hutt Valley and it is a much-needed service in this central location.”

Although this work has greatly improved the look and functionality of both sites, more funding is required to update these two facilities – including interior painting of the Stokes Valley clinic, new furniture and new carpet for the Hutt Valley family centre. If you would like to donate to this cause please email wellingtonwairarapa@plunket.org.nz for more information.
