Appeal for information after suspicious fire in Shannon


At about 12:45am this morning Fire Service and Levin Police were called to a fire at commercial premises in Plimmer Terrace, Shannon.

A member of the public alerted the Fire Service but the building was well ablaze when emergency services arrived at the scene.

The commercial takeaway shop was closed at the time of the fire.

The fire was brought under control however the premises sustained major damage as a result of the fire. Police and Fire Safety investigators have examined the scene today and are treating the fire as suspicious.

Levin Police are seeking sightings of suspicious behaviour around Plimmer Terrace, Shannon between 10.30pm last night and 12:30am this morning.
