Victim of 4x4 incident named

Canterbury Police are able to confirm the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota Land Cruiser that was found down a bank on Lees Valley Road on Sunday night (31 May 2015) was 23 year old Andrew Lawrence Orr.

The death has been referred to the Coroner. Canterbury Police are supporting his family and the services of Victim Support have been offered to them.

A spokesperson from his family would like to thank Canterbury Police for their support.

Canterbury Police SAR led an operation to locate Andrew after the driver following his vehicle lost sight of him. At around 9.30pm the car was located 100m down a bank from the Lees Valley Road. An aerial search failed to find Andrew however he was located at around 2am by SAR specialists from the Alpine Cliff Rescue team in an area of dense bush/scrub.

Canterbury Police investigations are continuing.
