NEW WORK from 8 JUNE

Linwood Ave down to one lane heading towards Dyers Road for a month

Sumner drivers might want to use Ferry Road going home towards Sumner fromMonday. Linwood Ave will be reduced to one lane only estuary-bound between Damien and Ormandy Place, past Hay St, for the fresh water pipe to be renewed.

Aranui – Breezes intersection south side of Pages Road closed for a month

From Monday 8 June, for about four weeks, Breezes Rd southbound will be closed at the intersection with Pages Road. Detours will be in place via Pages Road – Shortland Street – Lenton Street – Breezes Road. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/7020

From 8 June, Christchurch City Council starts work on upgrading the stormwater culvert under Shirley Road, between Emmett St and Stapletons Road so it can handle higher flood flows. SCIRT’s Fletcher team is doing this work which will take up to eight months. The larger culvert will make the stormwater network in the area more resilient and reduce the risk of flooding upstream.

Two-way traffic will be maintained for most of this project but please slow down. Parking on the road side will be removed to keep traffic two-way.

Selwyn St, Addington, one-way towards railway line off Brougham St, Metro 60 detour

From Wednesday 10 June, at the earliest, Selwyn St, between Burke St and closer to Brougham St, will be one-way heading north towards Hazeldean Road/ the railway line. The number 60 bus heading south to Hillmorton will be detoured around these works. Please allow extra time for travel. Please refer to the Metro website www.metroinfo.org.nz or phone Metro Info on 366 88 55 on the day of travel for any service changes.

Lake Terrace Road, Burwood and Bassett St update

This wastewater repair requires a road closure for up to four months. Although Lake Terrace Road will be closed between New Brighton Road and Burwood Road for up to four months, Bassett St is open to two-way traffic again and is the detour route.

Buckleys Road, Linwood, between Wyon and Dacre – edge of road closed

From Monday 8 June, SCIRT’s McConnell Dowell team will start investigation works on Buckleys Road, Linwood, between Wyon and Dacre Streets. This is part of the Southern Relief works. They will be inserting a bypass wastewater pipe and expect the work to take three weeks to do. There will be a shoulder/edge of road closure on Buckleys Road.

• From Monday 15 June, Wyon St intersection with Buckleys Road will be closed and Dacre St will be exit only onto Buckleys Road.

Manchester St night work water main

SCIRT’s McConnell Dowell team is repairing the water main on Manchester St at night between Lichfield and St Asaph. Manchester St in this block will be one-way southbound, 7pm to 7am. For part of this work they will need to close Manchester St, between Tuam and Lichfield Streets. Traffic will be detoured around the work area. This is all night works and two-way traffic will be maintained during the day.

ONGOING WORK ARANUI/ WAINONI

Aranui, Wainoni – take care driving along Pages and Wainoni Roads

With Pages Road citybound this year for the vacuum wastewater installations, the main detour route towards the beach/ Brighton is Kerrs Road and Wainoni Road.

There are many businesses in this area which are open and wanting people to continue to get to them eg Café Jireh off Bickerton St. Check their facebook page.

From Monday 8 June, for about four weeks, Breezes Rd southbound will be closed at the intersection with Pages Road. Detours will be in place via Pages Road – Shortland Street – Lenton Street – Breezes Road. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/7020

There is good parking for the pharmacy and church off Breezes Road near the intersection. The Mobil station has access off Pages and Breezes throughout this work.

Two-way traffic has returned to Pages Road, between Bickerton and Shortland Streets, temporarily for June while the Breezes intersection is closed.

Hills Road, Richmond/ Shirley, one-way for another month

This work in the Hills Road/ Edgeware Road intersection and along Hills Road will take an additional month. The detour citybound will remain the same – along Slater St.

New Brighton Road, Burwood/ Avondale closure for up to six weeks from early June

New Brighton Road was closed east of Bassett St/ the Avondale bridge to Stour Drive from this week for up to six weeks. SCIRT’s Downer team is continuing its wastewater pipe repair and needs to dig a trench through this area. The detour is the recently reopened Bassett St, then Travis Road and Anzac Drive. Aldwins Road, Linwood, heading towards Ferry Road

SCIRT’s Downer team is stabilising the ground around the big pressure wastewater pipe running along Aldwins Road this month. Two-way traffic will continue but there will be no right hand turn onto Harrow St for drivers going south towards Ferry Road.

Sparks Road, Hoon Hay – watch for children

Sparks Road is one-way, westbound only from Hoon Hay Road/the BP station towards Maryhill Ave. The detour route for city-bound drivers is Maryhill Ave off Sparks Road. There are two schools in the area, so please watch for children.
