Waikawau Bridge Closure
Two Waikawau bridges, north of Colville, are being replaced late June/early July which will close Waikawau Bay Road for up to two weeks.
The estimated road closure dates are from 29 June to 13 July. These dates are dependent on having favourable weather during this period and any changes to these dates will be notified via our website and road signage.
The bridges will be replaced at the same time to make the project more cost effective and minimise inconvenience to road users.
The reason we are replacing the bridges is to provide for overweight vehicles and mobile rock crushing equipment, without having to provide temporary bridge propping.
Access to Waimanu Road, a side road between the two bridges, will be maintained during the period of road closure.
