Coordinated Tourism Marketing for Northland

Northland’s promotion and tourism teams are hooking up with a one-of-a-kind Northland business to market the region.

“Big Fish Creative has landed the job of providing an integrated sales, marketing, web-and print based promotional products and services for the region,” said Northland Inc’s GM Regional Promotion Paul Davis.

“It’s great to be employing one of the best little businesses in the north to promote the things that are so great about the north, in a seamless way. It means that the Far North and Whangarei District Councils and Northland Inc lead by example – getting together to walk the talk by using a top Northland company to provide an efficient, smart service that will be more cost effective and relevant to our clients.”

“We threw a line in the water last year to see if there was a company out there that could take on this pivotal role for us and make it easier for Northland’s businesses to access and use tourism marketing and information services.

“BF Media demonstrated they were the Northland Company that had the skills, resources, background and vision to provide exactly what we needed.”

Northland Inc Chief Executive David Wilson said he welcomed the move all three organisations have made to contract Whangarei-based agency BF Media (the media division of Big Fish Creative) as their agent.

“They will produce consumer and trade tourism publications, sell destination website listings a range of visitor information centre display products in Northland,” he said.

“Having one place to go for this marketing investment from now on will make things much easier for Northland’s tourism operators” he said.

Mr Wilson said the deal would also make investing in the tourism marketing services offered much more cost-effective and less time consuming for businesses, as online booking is now available together with the option to spread payments over a number of months. BF Media now has a specialist Account Manager available to help tourism operators with their choices and to answer queries.

“The agreement shows the collegial way in which Northland’s tourism and local government sectors are now working and delivers better value for ratepayers.”

BF Media Director Tristan Tuckey welcomed the progressive nature of the agreement.

“BF Media recognises tourism as a very important sector in the future of Northland and our team committed to working on creative and technologically savvy initiatives that build and invest in the success of our region.”

Far North District General Manager District Services Dean Myburgh agreed joining the three separate services together into one offer sold by one agency made sense, and looked forward to seeing the ratecard of services come out later this month.

Paul Davis said the move would ensure that Northland will be well ahead of the game going into another very good peak season period in the summer of 2015-2016.
