Mobile Alert - a smart way to report faults to Council

Horowhenua District Council's new Mobile Alert app will be demonstrated at a public presentation in Levin on Tuesday 23 June.

Mobile Alert is a free app that enables users to report non-urgent faults or issues to Council via their phone or other smart device such as a tablet.

It allows users to report a fault or issue, including a photo and message, under the following categories: leaking water, animal problem, vegetation problem, signage problem, property damage, rubbish, graffiti, potholes, vandalism, no/broken street light, flooding, other problems.

The information received by Council includes a map location and GPS coordinates of the issue, the incident category selected, as well as a photo and any message or contact details provided by the sender. The information can then be forwarded directly to Council staff or contractors for action.

Members of the public are invited to the Community Wellbeing Forum's Mobile Alert presentation on Tuesday 23 June at 2pm in the open meeting room at Te Takere. Council’s Land and Information Management Team Leader Ian Tate will demonstrate how easy it is to download and use the app, as well as how information is captured and put to use by Council.

To download and access Mobile Alert, simply go to the app store on your smart phone or tablet and search for Mobile Alert.

Not everyone has a smart phone or tablet to be able to access to the app, so residents can always report a fault or issue to Council by phoning 06 366 0999 (serviced 24 hours/seven days), emailing enquiries@horowhenua.govt.nz, or visiting Council's Levin office or service centres at the Foxton Library and Shannon Library. People can also visit www.horowhenua.govt.nz and complete the 'Online Request for Service' form.
